Tao (short for Tactically Augmented Organism) is a dangerous member of the Syndicate and one of the best spies in the world.[1]
History[]
Earlier history[]
Little is revealed with his history. Tao was a opposing individual of the Syndicate but was later captured and place in a special cell at the Syndicate's HQ, coerced to working alongside them. [2]
A Ghost in the Tomb[]
Tao is one of the Syndicate members present as Matron requests aid and threatens them to coerce their help. Tao then agrees along with the rest of the Syndicate members present.[1]
Spiral's End[]
Grifter visits Tao in his special jail cell, informing him that he's no longer allowed to communicate with any other except himself on account of him being a telepath and immune to his manipulations, as he previously manipulated members of the Syndicate. Tao is given the task of evaluating Helena Bertinelli and their best course of actions, despite Grifter's initial distruct and Tao reminding him that the plans involving Otto Netz and Spyder would destroy the world, a fate even he doesn't agree with. He later analyzes Helena's background from the information provided by Grifter and recommends his course of action: killing Helena Bertinelli. [2]

Powers[]
Tao possess superhuman intelligence, having been able to piece together Helena's background and predict some of her actions during her tenure as head of Spyral. He also managed to figure out the plan of Otto Netz's resurrection from the use of Spyder and his future use of Oroboros. He also appears to have powers revolving around manipulation, requiring a telepath such as Grifer to counter his manipulation.[2]
Abilities[]
Combined with his superhuman intelligence and manipulation powers, Tao is cunning and dangerous tactician, so much so he can cause discomfort among Syndicate members. Grifter remarked that he "likes to take things apart a little too much. Even the Syndicate".[2]

- Tactically Augmented Organism (Tao) was created by Alan Moore and Travis Charest, first appearing in WildC.A.T.s #21. However, in the rebooted Prime Earth continuity his first appearance as part of the DC Universe is in Tim Seeley, Tom King, and Mikel Janin's Grayson #16.
